Therapy Brands
Redesigning TheraNest’s Global Navigation
Therapy Brands focuses on practice management software for therapists, primarily through their product TheraNest, which offers features like billing, scheduling, reminders, and client portals. The company aims to modernize it with a React-based front end to enhance user experience, boost trial-to-paid conversions, and solidify TheraNest as a key platform for its products.
The Ask
Redesign TheraNest’s Global Navigation. Therapy Brands needed a responsive, intuitive, and scalable solution for individuals and group practices, ensuring current users could quickly adapt to the updated experience.
My Role
I was the design lead in this engagement, overseeing a team of two designers and one researcher. I worked closely with the team during design reviews and ensured the quality and direction of the deliveries.
1. Discovery: Business and Users
Stakeholder Interviews: 6 interviews were conducted to align business needs and expectations.
User Interviews: Conducted 8 interviews (both group and individual) to understand user workflows, pain points, and goals.
2. Research and Insights
Benchmark Analysis: To identify opportunities for differentiation, TheraNest was analyzed against six competitor platforms. I and the senior designer on the team executed this work.
Card Sorting and Prioritization: The senior researcher engaged with users to validate the information architecture of the Global Navigation.
User Personas: The senior researcher and associate designer synthesized the research data and created data-driven personas to empathize with and prioritize key user needs.
3. Iterative Design and Validation
Information Architecture: Insights from card sorting research also informed a reorganized structure for improved navigation.
Diagrams: I created site map diagrams and began making navigation recommendations to guide the direction of TheraNest’s site schematic, address content flow gaps, and serve as a blueprint for the wireframes.
Wireframes and Prototypes: The team collaboratively created scalable wireframes representing the Global Navigation for use in early prototype testing with stakeholders and users.
User Validation: Insights gathered through iterative testing ensured the design aligned with user and business goals.
4. Design Execution
I created an essential style guide with cohesive components to ensure device consistency and inspire the team working on the final applied designs.
Applied Designs: The team delivered key screens showcasing the recommended aesthetic and functionality, ensuring responsiveness and scalability.
5. Design Handoff
The team provided developers with a comprehensive design guide featuring reusable components and patterns to maintain consistency.
